Not every meeting belongs in a coffee shop, and not every business needs its own boardroom. The meeting rooms at ShiftWorks are open to members and non-members alike, booked online by the hour, and ready when you arrive. This is a short guide to choosing a room, what is included and how to book.
The rooms
In Chester, Royal House on Upper Northgate Street has a leather chaired meeting room for smaller conversations and a boardroom for larger ones, five minutes on foot from the bus interchange. In Hoylake, Market Street has a meeting room and a boardroom a few minutes from the station, and Lake House around the corner has a boardroom with a reception for greeting visitors.
What is included
- A screen for presenting and video calls
- Superfast Wi-Fi
- Tea, coffee and water
- A quiet, professional setting with staff on hand Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30pm
- Catering for longer sessions, arranged in advance
What it costs
Rooms are priced from £20 an hour, £50 for a half day and £80 for a full day, plus VAT, with the exact rate depending on the room. Members on a flex desk, resident desk or private office have meeting room use included in their plan, subject to fair use, so for them the online calendar simply confirms the slot.
How to book
Bookings are made through our online calendar. Pick the building, choose the room, select a date and time, and pay by card. You will receive a confirmation by email with the address and arrival details. If you would rather talk it through, or you need a room for a whole day with lunch, call 0151 632 6801 and the team will set it up.
Arriving
Come to reception a few minutes before your booking and the team will show you and your guests to the room. In Chester there are several city centre car parks a short walk from Royal House; in Hoylake there is free on-street parking outside Market Street and Lake House, and the station is a few minutes away.
A few tips
Before you book
Five things to tell us, so the room is right when you walk in:
- How many people are coming, so we can suggest the meeting room or the boardroom
- Whether you will present or dial people in, so the screen is ready
- Any catering, which we arrange in advance
- The names of your visitors, so reception can greet them
- Any access needs, so we can plan the route from the door
What people use them for
Interviews and appraisals away from the open floor. Client meetings and pitches that deserve a proper table. Board and investor meetings for companies that work from home the rest of the month. Training sessions and workshops. And, quite often, a day alone with a document that needs finishing without interruption.
- Book the boardroom for anything over six people so nobody is squeezed in.
- Add fifteen minutes either side of a client meeting to set up, and to talk afterwards without rushing.
- If you interview, train or pitch regularly, a membership may work out cheaper than hourly hire, and it comes with a desk for the rest of the day.
